Gold jewellery: how many carats is best?

The quality of gold is shown in carats. The highest possible number of carats is 24, which equals 100% pure gold. Pure gold is a beautiful precious metal, but it also has a disadvantage: it is a very soft material.

This means that pure gold is not very resistant to wear and tear. 24-carat gold can therefore deform or bend and wear out quickly. So this is not ideal for jewellery you want to enjoy for years!

This is why we use 18-carat solid gold for our jewellery. 18 carats equals about 75% pure gold. This has all the external advantages of pure gold: it sparkles beautifully and has a full, yellow-gold colour.

At the same time, the material is supplemented with ingredients that make it stronger. It won’t easily wear out or bend, so you’ll enjoy it for longer.

So by making our gold chains 18-carat, we ensure an extra strong piece of jewellery with the highest possible value of pure gold. This makes for the most beautiful gold jewellery!

Attention to detail

Each piece of jewellery is handmade in the Netherlands to your order. This means you will receive a highly personalised necklace, bracelet or ring. Our craftsmen and craftswomen have an excellent eye for detail, so every wish for personalisation can be fulfilled.

For example, you can have a handwritten message engraved, with the authentic handwriting created in gold. Fingerprints are also incorporated into the material with great precision.

Many of our gold jewellery pieces can be personalised. This means you can immortalise your most special memories in gold. A wedding day or birth, or a memento of an important person: the possibilities are endless.

On our Sparkle Snake necklace, for instance, you can incorporate a special message of your choice. We can engrave this for you in 7 elegant fonts, and it is also possible to upload your own handwriting. Besides a message, you can also choose a heartbeat, fingerprint or symbols of meaning on this necklace. The bar can be engraved on both sides, giving you complete design freedom.

Our Signature bracelets are gold jewellery with elegance. The bracelet is thin and delicate in size, creating an elegant and minimalist look. With this bracelet too, you have a lot of choice and freedom in personalisation. For instance, you can have any initial, star sign or symbols in gold charms made on the bracelet. Gold hallmark of Waarborg Holland

All our jewellery is made of 18-carat solid gold. This gold is hallmarked by Waarborg Holland, a guarantee office that checks gold (and other precious metals). This gold hallmark assures you of the quality of the gold used.

Waarborg Holland checks whether the gold sold on the Dutch market meets the correct legally recognised gold contents. A gold hallmark means that our gold meets these standards.

Do you have questions or specific wishes for our goldsmiths? You can submit these online or via our customer service. It is also possible to meet a goldsmith yourself in our Flagship store in Eindhoven. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 09:00 to 17:00 and Saturday from 10:00 to 17:00 our goldsmiths are present.
